A new manufacturing company is doing its part to help create jobs in Reno.

Scienceuticals, Inc. recently announced its plan to open a west coast development and manufacturing facility in Reno, which will create 25 jobs by the end of the year and 100 jobs within three years. Jobs will include bench chemists, lab technicians, account managers, administrative, shipping and receiving and production positions.

The company manufactures cosmetics and skin care products, and its new 55,000-square-foot facility will have the capability to produce such items as lotions, oils, hair care products, cosmetics and over-the-counter pharmaceuticals.

“Having a global beauty products and cosmetics manufacturer like Scienceuticals choose Reno to open its west coast facility is a real boon for our economy,” Chuck Alvey, president and CEO of the Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada, said. “Not only is the company occupying 55,000 square feet, but it will employ 25 people in much sought after manufacturing jobs which couldn’t come at a better time.

“The company selected Reno over other cities like Boise, Portland, Phoenix and Albuquerque which speaks to Greater Reno-Tahoe’s competitive business climate and the company’s growth plans,” he continued. “Scienceuticals also falls right in line with the Target2010 plan for our region’s future growth in the advanced manufacturing sector.

Sienceuticals chose to expand to Reno because of the strategic transportation links to major western markets, entrepreneruial business climate and skilled workforce. Donald Hayden, CEO and founder of Scienceuticals, said Reno offers a combination of business and lifestyle amenities.

“We are pleased to be opening our new cosmetics contract manufacturing facility in Reno,” he said. “Our customers will benefit from the increase in capabilities and we are excited to be creating jobs and contributing to the growth of this great community.”
